Eurostat: EU household electricity prices stable at €28.72
Eurostat published data showing EU household electricity prices were largely stable in H1 2025, with taxes and levies increasing, muting the effect of lower pre-tax prices.
- Main announcement: Eurostat reports the average household electricity price in the EU was €28.72 per 100 kWh in the first half of 2025, a -0.5% change from €28.87 in H2 2024; the share of taxes and levies rose from 24.7% to 27.6%, so the fall in pre-tax prices has not translated into lower consumer bills.
- Additional details: Highest country-level household prices: Germany €38.35/100 kWh, Belgium €35.71, Denmark €34.85; lowest: Hungary €10.40, Malta €12.44, Bulgaria €13.00. Non-household prices marginally decreased to €19.02/100 kWh (from €19.41). Source dataset: nrg_pc_204 (Eurostat).
