Consumers Energy backs MPSC safeguards for large data centers

Consumers Energy is opposing Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s challenge to a Michigan Public Service Commission order that sets new cost-recovery safeguards for large data centers and other high-load customers. The utility supports the order’s framework, which applies to users of at least 100 MW, and plans to file an updated Energy Supply Plan next year covering natural gas, renewables, and battery storage to meet projected growth.

EU Council sets mandate to overhaul plant reproductive rules

The Council of the European Union has adopted a negotiating mandate for a new, single regulation on plant reproductive material to replace ten existing directives, modernise rules, and better adapt seeds and propagating material to climate and environmental challenges. Negotiations with the European Parliament are expected to begin early next year to finalise the legislation, which includes mandatory sustainability-related examinations for key crops and streamlined, digitally supported procedures.
