Orion S.A. signs supply agreement for tire pyrolysis oil with Contec S.A.
US-based Orion S.A. has signed a long-term supply agreement with Poland-based Contec S.A. to provide tire pyrolysis oil (TPO) for producing circular carbon black. This agreement allows Orion to diversify its TPO sources and produce large-scale volumes of circular carbon black for tire and rubber goods producers. Orion is the only company to make circular carbon black from 100% TPO, demonstrating its ability to replace virgin carbon black in various applications. Contec’s CEO, Krzysztof Wróblewski, emphasized the partnership’s role in advancing the circular economy.
Supercritical and Exomad Green Expand Biochar Partnership
Supercritical has announced an expanded multi-year partnership with Exomad Green, the world’s largest biochar producer, to secure 130,000 tonnes of biochar carbon removal. This agreement makes Supercritical the exclusive distribution partner for Exomad Green’s 2025 spot credits and introduces a multi-year offtake product. Biochar prices have risen 29.2% annually since 2020, and 62% of 2025 supply is already locked in. Exomad Green plans to increase production from 86,000 tonnes in 2024 to 210,000 tonnes in 2025, with a target of 500,000 tonnes by 2026. This partnership aims to streamline procurement processes and ensure stable supply and transparent pricing in the tightening carbon removal market.
Restoring Scotland’s natural environment
Scotland has introduced the Natural Environment (Scotland) Bill to Parliament, aiming to restore nature and protect biodiversity. The Bill mandates Scottish Ministers to set legally-binding nature restoration targets and modernizes the management of national parks and deer. It is part of the Scottish Government’s Strategic Framework for Biodiversity and complements the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy. The Bill addresses the twin crises of climate change and nature loss, proposing measures to protect biodiversity and reduce carbon emissions. If passed, it will reform deer management and adapt environmental legislation to future needs.
