Canada Invests $21.5M in Carbon Capture Technologies
The Government of Canada has announced an investment of over $21.5 million in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies to advance clean energy and reduce emissions.
- The funding supports projects including Bow Valley Carbon’s CO2 storage at Inter Pipeline’s Cochrane Extraction Plant, Enbridge’s Wabamun Hub CO2 transportation and storage infrastructure, Enhance Energy’s Origins CCS hub, and technology validation by OptiSeis Solutions and OCCAM’s Technologies.

This investment is part of a broader $319 million seven-year commitment under Budget 2021 for CCUS research, development, and demonstration, complemented by $93 billion in economic investment tax credits announced in Budget 2024 to support net zero by 2050.
This initiative strengthens Canada’s energy innovation, supports decarbonization goals, and promotes the development of low-carbon energy infrastructure across Alberta and Canada.
