Commonwealth leaders champion global ocean action in Samoa

The 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa has resulted in the adoption of the Apia Ocean Declaration by all Commonwealth countries. The declaration outlines shared priorities for ocean protection, including ending plastic pollution, addressing harmful fisheries subsidies, and aligning with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and Paris Agreement goals.
