Scientists create recipe for fast-spectrum molten salt reactor

US-based Idaho National Laboratory (INL) has developed a recipe for the world’s first critical fast-spectrum molten salt reactor, the Molten Chloride Reactor Experiment (MCRE). After five years of research, the team successfully converted uranium metal into uranium chloride for use as fuel, achieving a 90% efficiency in the process.
