Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs Launches Manufacturing Sector Decarbonization Plan

The Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs announced the launch of the Manufacturing Sector Decarbonization Flagship Action Plan and a long-term social communication mechanism.

  • The plan focuses on expanding industry participation and innovative technology development with four key projects: industry autonomous reduction, deep energy saving in manufacturing, decarbonization of state-owned enterprises CPC Corporation and China Steel Corporation, targeting an 18% reduction by 2030.
  • The Ministry will address challenges such as carbon pricing, economic fluctuations, and overcapacity by promoting low-carbon domestic demand, capacity building, regulatory optimization, resource recycling, and cross-ministerial cooperation to support smart and low-carbon transformation.
This initiative establishes a multi-stakeholder dialogue and collaboration platform to integrate resources and deepen communication, laying a solid foundation for Taiwan’s 2050 net-zero emission goal.
