- Main announcement: The Government of India (Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shripad Naik) reported 862,000 tonnes per annum of green hydrogen production capacity allocated to 19 companies and 3,000 MW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity awarded to 15 companies; India aims to capture nearly 10% of global green hydrogen demand (global demand projected to exceed 100 million metric tonnes by 2030).
- Background and additional details: As of June 2025 cumulative renewable capacity ~237 GW (119 GW solar, 52 GW wind, 49 GW large hydro) plus 8.78 GW nuclear; the EU (via Dr Ewa Suwara) and India agreed to establish a Hydrogen Task Force following the May 2025 India-EU Green Hydrogen Forum in Rotterdam; the FICCI-EY report outlines priority use-cases and procurement models for hard-to-abate industries (refining, steel, aviation, fertilisers).
