CyrusOne and Calpine to build Texas hyperscale campus

Calpine and CyrusOne announced a new 190-megawatt agreement to support CyrusOne’s DFW10 hyperscale data center campus in Bosque County, Texas — a $1.2B infrastructure investment expected to be operational by Q4 2026.

  • Project details: Calpine will provide power, grid connection, and land under a 190-megawatt agreement to support the new CyrusOne campus (DFW10) adjacent to the Thad Hill Energy Center in Bosque County, Texas; the campus first phase will encompass ~190,000 square feet, with scalable capacity for future demand. A groundbreaking/commemorative ceremony is planned this autumn at the site.
  • Background & implementation: The campus is backed by investors Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) (part of BlackRock) and KKR; CyrusOne will leverage Calpine’s Powered Land Capabilities (PLC) and Calpine’s generation platform (~9,000 MW in ERCOT) which can deliver up to 400 MW to data centers in Bosque. The project includes climate-neutral initiatives, water conservation, biodiversity protection, and capabilities to respond during ERCOT grid emergencies. (Calpine announced an agreement for acquisition by Constellation on 2025-01-10.)
