IFC and BTG Pactual partner to scale sustainability in Latin America
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and BTG Pactual announced a strategic partnership to mobilize up to US$1 billion in joint investments and private capital mobilized with third parties by the end of 2028.
- Partnership scope and commitments: The Memorandum of Understanding establishes collaboration for cofinancing, equity participation, and investments in funds, plus coinvestments in portfolio companies, infrastructure, nature-based solutions, and projects in the Amazon bioeconomy; BTG Pactual will identify co-financing and investment opportunities while IFC will provide financial and technical solutions. The partnership targets up to US$1 billion mobilized by end of 2028 and includes sharing IFC’s Environmental and Social Performance Standards and best practices.
- Background and implementation details: The MoU combines IFC’s global development finance expertise with BTG Pactual’s regional leadership; IFC reported a record allocation of US$71 billion to private companies and financial institutions in FY2025. BTG Pactual (ticker BPAC11) is described as the largest investment bank in Latin America with more than 8,000 employees and operations across Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, United States, Portugal, United Kingdom, Spain and Luxembourg. The agreement emphasizes knowledge sharing and joint identification and execution of eligible transactions.
