Ambar and Carreras trial renewable hydrogen transport
The Aragonese brewery Ambar and logistics company Carreras have launched a three-month trial to transport beer using renewable hydrogen in collaboration with Repsol, Zoilo Ríos, and EVARM.
- Main action: A three-month trial will transport beer from the Ambar factory (on the Castellón road) to Carreras’ central warehouse at the Zaragoza Logistics Platform (Plaza) using renewable hydrogen, aiming to reduce 30 tonnes of CO₂e in the transportation phase. The trial partners are Ambar, Carreras, Repsol, Zoilo Ríos, and EVARM.
- Project details / background: To address the shortage of hydrogen vehicles in Spain, the project uses a hybrid trailer adapted to run on renewable diesel and/or hydrogen for long-distance capability, and a tractor unit developed by EVARM based on a model that won the Mission 1000 Dakar Rally category for alternative-energy vehicles.
