NEC releases third TNFD natural capital report
NEC Corporation has published the third edition of its TNFD report, enhancing natural-capital risk and opportunity analysis by integrating generative AI and agentic AI to enable local water-related risk analysis across approximately 2,000 sites.
- Main announcement/action: NEC published the “NEC TNFD Report, Third Edition” that expands detailed local risk analysis to ~2,000 NEC Group sites and upstream value-chain locations, uses generative AI and Agentic AI to analyze water scarcity and flood/storm risks, and automates communication materials; the company reports efficiency gains equivalent to approximately 80,000 hours (conventional ~40 hours per site vs. near-simultaneous agentic-AI assessment in about one hour).
- Background and additional details: NEC adopts a “client zero” approach (first using advanced AI internally), collaborates with specialized institutions and initiatives including the TNFD Nature Data Public Facility (NDPF) and the World Economic Forum (IT sector guidance with Oliver Wyman), plans to integrate in-depth supply-chain risk investigations into its Eco Action Plan starting in 2026, and will apply insights to SSBJ reporting and external surveys.
