Italy Hosts XII Italy–Latin America Conference on Green Transition
Italy’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, opened the XII Italy–Latin America and Caribbean Ministerial Conference organized by the Farnesina in collaboration with IILA on 07 October 2025.
- Main announcement/action: The Conference adopted a Final Declaration reaffirming “democracy, human rights, sustainable development and multilateral cooperation”, promoted a “diplomacy of growth” to strengthen trade and investment (including support for new free trade and economic partnership agreements), and put energy transition at the centre with concrete emphasis on renewables, green hydrogen and clean technologies. The meeting gathered high-level representatives of the 33 CELAC member countries and regional organizations and banks.
- Background and details: The Conference (organized by Farnesina with IILA) highlighted cooperation on criminality and anti-corruption through the Falcone-Borsellino programs and El PACcTO, discussed the importance of COP30 in Brazil as a key climate cooperation step, and welcomed the appointment of Undersecretary Giorgio Silli as Secretary General of IILA effective January 2026.
