Resolest opens industrial fume recycling unit in France
Resolest inaugurated a new facility to treat REFIOM and PSR at Rosières-aux-Salines on 12 June 2025.
- Main announcement: Resolest (joint venture of Solvay and Veolia) inaugurated the new REFIOM and PSR treatment unit on 12 June 2025; the unit was designed and built by John Cockerill with support from Eiffage Construction Lorraine and increases the site’s annual treatment capacity from 45,000 to 65,000 tons (≈50% increase).
- Process and implementation details: Industrial fumes are neutralized with sodium bicarbonate, Resolest extracts the soluble fraction and recovers salt which is transformed into purified brine and transported by pipeline to Solvay’s Dombasle-sur-Meurthe plant to replace virgin raw materials for sodium carbonate production; the unit explicitly treats REFIOM (residual waste from municipal waste incineration) and PSR (residual soda products) as part of a circular-economy approach.
