The UN Convention to Control Desertification (UNCCD) COP16 meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia has highlighted that 100 million hectares of healthy land is being degraded annually. The meeting has brought together policy makers, experts, private sector, civil society and athletes to focus on accelerating land restoration by 2030 and addressing increasing challenges of droughts, floods and forest fires. Olympic athlete Asmaa Niang from Morocco is advocating for land protection through the Sport4Land campaign.
