BDUK redesigns Norfolk Project Gigabit contract with CityFibre

Building Digital UK (BDUK) and CityFibre have redesigned the Norfolk Project Gigabit contract in May 2026 to reduce overlap and focus public funding on premises that would otherwise miss out.

• Contract redesign (May 2026): BDUK and CityFibre revised the Norfolk contract to cover around 33,000 premises backed with £61.9 million of investment through Project Gigabit, with the redesign intended to minimise overlap with other suppliers’ commercial rollouts and ensure value for money for taxpayers.
• Background and original award: The original contract, signed June 2023, awarded CityFibre £114.2 million to reach around 62,200 premises; BDUK and Norfolk County Council planned network build to begin with first premises anticipated to have access in 2024. The government also provides up to £210 million in rural vouchers under the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme.
