Canada breaks ground on North Coast Transmission Line

Natural Resources Canada has announced the groundbreaking of Phase 1 of the North Coast Transmission Line in British Columbia.

• Phase 1 is a 165-km, 500-kV transmission segment from the Williston Substation near Prince George to the Glenannan Substation near Fraser Lake.
• The federal and British Columbia governments are committing $3.9 billion toward phases 1 and 2, and the Canada Infrastructure Bank provided a $139.5-million loan in November 2025 for pre-construction work; the line is expected to support Ksi Lisims LNG, critical minerals, and other industrial development.
