CityFibre and BDUK redesign Project Gigabit contract for 6,000 premises

Building Digital UK (BDUK) and CityFibre announced a contract redesign in May 2026 that revises the Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes Project Gigabit contract to cover around 6,000 premises backed by public funding.

• Contract redesign: In May 2026 BDUK and CityFibre agreed to redesign the contract, now covering around 6,000 premises and backed with £19.8 million of Project Gigabit investment; the redesign was made to minimise overlap with other suppliers’ commercial rollout.
• Background and timeline: The original contract was signed in February 2024 for around 25,000 premises at £51 million; first premises under the original build were anticipated to have access in 2025, and BDUK says it is in discussions with other suppliers to reach remaining premises.
