DOCOMO deploys Nokia MantaRay AutoPilot on public cloud

NTT DOCOMO, INC. has announced it became the first company in Japan to deploy Nokia’s MantaRay AutoPilot system, implementing it on a public cloud effective June 19, 2026, to enable AI-driven automated network optimization and pursue TM Forum Autonomous Networks Level 4.

• Deployment details: DOCOMO deployed Nokia MantaRay AutoPilot on a public cloud (world’s first for a commercial mobile network), effective June 19, 2026, integrating it with its existing MantaRay SON; the AI can complete a full optimization cycle in as little as 15 minutes and operates by receiving operator-defined “intents” and autonomously designing parameters and execution schedules.
• Background and implementation: DOCOMO previously introduced MantaRay SON in November 2025; the AutoPilot replaces manual parameter design by automatically generating policies and directives, sending optimization directives to MantaRay SON at intervals as short as 15 minutes, and DOCOMO will continue evaluating system effectiveness in commercial operations while planning future integration with other cloud-based AI platforms.
