Eolian advances Flint Grid battery project near Columbus

Eolian has announced that the Flint Grid Battery Energy Storage System is under construction and is expected to be operational in Spring 2027.

• The first phase of the project is a 200 MW / 5.3-hour battery energy storage system with more than 1 GWh of storage capacity in Jersey Township, Licking County, Ohio.
• Eolian says Flint Grid is designed to support datacenter load growth in the New Albany corridor by making better use of the existing grid, avoiding new transmission lines, and helping with regional reliability; the project has already completed the Ohio Power Siting Board review process.
• The article also says Flint Grid is the largest BESS resource to clear the PJM capacity auction for the 2027 capacity year, and that Eolian began developing the project in 2018.
