Georgia Power to serve OpenAI Effingham County project

Georgia Power announced it will serve OpenAI’s new project in Effingham County, Georgia, after OpenAI publicly outlined the facility and its power arrangement.

• OpenAI’s project is expected to need approximately 3,200 MW of power, and OpenAI will pay the full infrastructure and electric service costs for the facility.
• Under a 25-year agreement, OpenAI will provide up to 1,000 MW of flexible demand response; Georgia Power said the arrangement follows Georgia PSC rules approved in January 2025 and is among the largest single-facility demand response commitments in the country.
