Google breaks ground on first data center in Sweden

Google broke ground on a new data center in Horndal, Sweden.

• Project details: Groundbreaking on Jun 02, 2026 for an air-cooled facility in Horndal designed for off-site heat recovery, expected to create 100 direct jobs; Google cites support for more than 700 megawatts of renewable energy added to Sweden’s grid since 2013.
• Community and local commitments: Google is launching a EUR 5 million fund for community initiatives focused on education, sustainability and workforce development; the facility will serve Google services including Search, Google Cloud and YouTube and builds on Google’s presence in Sweden since its first office in 2004.
