IBM launches z17 and LinuxONE 5 rack options

IBM has announced new IBM z17 and IBM LinuxONE 5 configurations, adding rack mount options alongside single frame systems across its Z and LinuxONE portfolio.

• The new configurations are designed to help organizations optimize data center footprint, support co-location with non-IBM equipment, and improve energy efficiency and operational flexibility.
• The portfolio includes IBM z17 single frame, IBM z17 rack mount, LinuxONE Rockhopper 5, and LinuxONE Rockhopper 5 Express; IBM says the systems will be generally available from August 12, 2026, while IBM Infrastructure Management for IBM Z and IBM LinuxONE is due August 14, 2026 and COBOL Elevate for z/OS on September 18, 2026.
