Pembina urges Ontario data center policy reforms

The Pembina Institute has submitted recommendations to the Environmental Registry of Ontario on Ontario’s data center playbook.

• The submission outlines six recommendations on implementation, emissions assessment, renewable energy procurement, data-center rate design, demand flexibility, and community review.
• The Institute says the playbook is a promising, though early, example and argues data-center growth could support clean power, storage, and grid infrastructure in Ontario.
