NYSERDA Announces Nearly $8M for Low-Carbon Fuels

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) announced nearly $8 million is available through a competitive “Waste to Low-Carbon Fuels Pilot and Demonstration” solicitation to support projects converting waste feedstocks into eligible low-carbon fuels in New York State.

  • Funding and solicitation details: Nearly $8 million is available through the competitive Waste to Low-Carbon Fuels Pilot and Demonstration solicitation; projects must provide a minimum 50% cost-share from non‑NYSERDA sources, and proposals are due January 22, 2026 by 3:00 p.m. E.T. Eligible fuels include sustainable aviation fuel, renewable natural gas, renewable diesel, clean methanol and e-fuels (ammonia, biogas, and hydrogen are explicitly not eligible).
  • Program structure and background: The solicitation is offered through NYSERDA’s Advanced Fuels and Thermal Energy Storage Program and includes a three‑phase pathway (Phase One: site selection and feedstock agreements; Phase Two: engineering design, safety and permitting; Phase Three: build, commission, operate). An informational webinar is scheduled for October 6, 2025, 1:30–2:30 p.m. E.T., and funding for the initiative is provided through the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).
