MHI studies green hydrogen and ammonia exports from India
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has launched a study to formulate a master plan for exporting green hydrogen and green ammonia produced in India, in collaboration with Hygenco Green Energies under METI’s FY2023 Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation supplementary program.
- Main action: MHI will develop production and transport models and a master plan for cross-border utilization of green hydrogen and green ammonia produced in India, conducting economic evaluations for target markets including Singapore; MHI signed a contract with Hygenco in August to obtain production information and will make proposals to governments worldwide based on simulation results.
- Background and details: METI selected MHI following an open call by Boston Consulting Group; Hygenco Green Energies (Gurgaon) is committed to deploying 10 GW by 2030 and has commissioned and under-commissioning projects across India; MHI aims for carbon neutrality by 2040 and will work with cooperating operators in India, Japan, and Singapore to gather required data.
