FPL says PSC rate plan meets Florida data center law

Florida Power & Light Company has announced that it submitted a filing with the Florida Public Service Commission saying its PSC-approved rate structure already meets Florida’s new data center law.

  • FPL says its large load rate structure requires data center customers to fund 100% of new power generation, cover engineering study costs, meet strict collateral and credit requirements, and pay for substation and other interconnection costs.
  • The filing follows the PSC’s November 2025 approval of FPL’s customer protections during its 2026-2029 rate-setting process; Florida later enacted SB 484 in 2026, and the PSC will now review the compliance filing.
