AirTrunk has announced that it secured US$2.325 billion (RM9.5 billion) in green financing to support the sustainable development of its JHB2 hyperscale data center campus in Johor Bahru.

  • The financing is described as the largest green project finance transaction for a single data center in Malaysia and AirTrunk’s largest single-asset financing to date.
  • The funding will support JHB2, targeting a design PUE of 1.37 and using advanced water-efficient cooling technology; margin savings will continue to fund social impact programs in Malaysia, including recycled water, disaster relief, and STEM education initiatives.
  • A consortium of 30 local and international financial institutions backed the loan, and the transaction marks AirTrunk’s first financing from IFC; the financing was led by 10 Global Coordinators and supported by multiple Mandated Lead Arrangers, Underwriters, and Bookrunners.
