BDUK awards CityFibre Project Gigabit contract for Hampshire

BDUK has updated the Project Gigabit contract with CityFibre for Hampshire.

• Contract redesign announced 26 May 2026: CityFibre and Building Digital UK (BDUK) agreed to redesign the Hampshire contract to cover around 29,000 premises backed by £71.7 million of Project Gigabit public investment; this replaces the original June 2023 award of £104.2 million to reach around 75,500 premises.
• Implementation and background: The original contract was signed in June 2023 with first premises anticipated to have access in 2024; BDUK and Hampshire County Council will work with the supplier on build plans, the premises figure is subject to change after detailed supplier planning, BDUK is in discussions with other suppliers to cover remaining premises, and Project Gigabit also provides up to £210 million in voucher funding for rural areas.
