Canada adds 19 signatories to data center principles

The Government of Canada has announced that 19 additional companies have signed Canada’s Responsible Data Center Development Principles, bringing total signatories to 42.

• The principles were launched on September 3, 2026 and set five expectations: local benefits, protecting electricity ratepayers, minimizing water use and environmental impacts, transparency about local impacts, and strategic value to Canada.
• The new signatories include AMD, IBM, Intel, NVIDIA, Schneider Electric, STACK Infrastructure, and Vantage Data Centers; the announcement says support has nearly doubled from 23 to 42 organizations and ties the principles to Canada’s national AI strategy, AI for All.
