The Minister of Finance and National Revenue has tabled Budget 2026 in Parliament and outlined the government’s fiscal, growth, affordability, housing, sovereignty, and defence measures.
- The budget proposes amendments to the Impact Assessment Act to support a “one project, one decision, one year” process, launches a Productivity Mega Deduction, and says businesses will be able to immediately deduct the full cost of most new investments.
- It includes new spending and commitments such as over $22 billion over five years for affordability measures, $44 billion already provided to support workers and businesses affected by U.S. tariffs, $25 million for Armed Forces support after the Wainwright tragedy, and $3 million for the Wainwright Military Family Resource Center.
