ENEC’s Barakah nuclear plant wins Platts energy award

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) has announced that it won the 2025 Platts Global Energy Award for ‘Excellence in Energy – Power’ for the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant.

• Award & project details: ENEC was recognized in New York as the first exclusively nuclear company in a decade to win this category, for the delivery and operation of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, the first multi‑unit nuclear plant and largest single source of clean electricity in the Arab world, delivered on time and on budget, safely and to international standards, providing clean baseload power for communities, industries and growing digital infrastructure.
• Context & global role: The award, selected by an independent international expert panel and open to all generation technologies (renewables, conventional, advanced grid), reinforces the UAE and Abu Dhabi’s role as a civil nuclear best‑practice model and major clean power producer meeting rising demand from AI, tech sectors and heavy industry, while ENEC now seeks to export its expertise and expand international cooperation to accelerate global nuclear deployment.
