Eskom reports improved generation and load reduction progress

Eskom has reported improved electricity system performance and further progress in its Load Reduction Eradication Programme.
- Eskom said 1 099 430 customers have been removed from load reduction schedules, equal to 65% of the 1.69 million customers targeted under the programme.
- The utility said load reduction has been fully eliminated in five provinces, with elimination targeted in seven provinces by October 2026 and nationally by 2027; it also reported R746.41 million in diesel expenditure year to date versus R4.86 billion last year.
- Eskom said the Energy Availability Factor rose to 64.29% for 1 April to 2 July 2026, and South Africa has now logged 413 consecutive days without loadshedding since 16 May 2025.
