Firmus adds OpenAI partnership and expands into Malaysia

Firmus and OpenAI have announced a multi-year strategic partnership for dedicated AI compute capacity in Malaysia, with OpenAI becoming an anchor customer and Firmus expanding its AI Factory platform.

• OpenAI will contract dedicated AI compute capacity from two Firmus AI Factory sites in Malaysia; the partnership makes OpenAI an anchor customer and supports additional AI Factory capacity across Firmus’ platform.
• Firmus says total contracted capacity now exceeds 900 MW across customers; its portfolio spans seven AI factories in four countries (Australia, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia), with two operational sites and five under development targeting ready-for-service over the next 24 months. Firmus also plans to deploy NVIDIA Vera Rubin and use NVIDIA DSX AI Factory Platform with its HyperCube infrastructure; it intends to launch an Australian AI Access Program focused on science, education, agriculture, energy and resource efficiency, and climate resilience.
