Firmus secures 600 MW South Australia energy agreement

Firmus Technologies has announced a 12-year wholesale energy supply agreement with Gunvor Group to support the next phase of Project Southgate in regional Australia.

  • The agreement secures 600 MW of firm electricity and supports 1.2 GW of new renewable generation plus 1.5 GWh of battery storage by 2032 for Firmus’ South Australian expansion.
  • It includes a demand response commitment of up to 220 hours per year when wholesale prices exceed agreed thresholds, and underpins the first phase of AI Factory campuses at Tailem Bend and Stirling North with 2.7 GW of planned capacity.
  • The deal also includes a long-term offtake supporting GreenPoint Energy’s Koolunga BESS, a 200 MW / 800 MWh grid-forming battery near Brinkworth in South Australia’s Mid North.
  • Firmus says the agreement is the first major commercial agreement supporting its Australian Energy and Water Policies released the same day.
