GE Vernova launches 170 kV SF6-free GIS

GE Vernova has announced the launch of its new 170 kV SF₆-free gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) at CIGRE Paris 2026.
- The new F35g 170 kV GIS expands GE Vernova’s GRiDEA portfolio and completes its SF₆-free GIS range for transmission grids, spanning 72.5 kV, 145 kV, 170 kV, 245 kV and 420 kV.
- The product is digital-native, meets IEC and IEEE requirements, is manufactured in Europe, and is available for order after its official launch; development was partially supported by France 2030 via ADEME.
- CIGRE Paris 2026 runs August 23–28 in Paris, and the announcement highlights GE Vernova’s use of Life Cycle Assessments to reduce carbon impact across the equipment lifecycle.
