Google announces Missouri data center investments and energy fund

Google is announcing new community investments in Missouri, including a new data center in Montgomery County.

• Main announcement: Google will build a new data center in Montgomery County, Missouri, and through its Capacity Commitment Framework agreement with Ameren is supporting the development of more than 500 megawatts of additional capacity; Google is also establishing a $20 million Energy Impact Fund to lower household utility bills via targeted home weatherization and efficiency initiatives.
• Additional details: Google says its data centers generate nine local jobs for every direct position created and it will fund local workforce programs, including support to the Construction Laborers and Contractors Joint Training Fund of Eastern Missouri to help the Laborers and Contractors Training Center train thousands of new construction laborers and apprentices in Montgomery County.
