Hydrogen Europe and the Net Zero Innovation Hub for Data Centers have announced the publication of a practical guide on hydrogen infrastructure for Europe’s data centers.
- The guide, Hydrogen Infrastructure for Europe’s Data Centers: A Practical Guide for Operators, Developers and Investors, was announced on 3 November 2026 and also presented at European Hydrogen Week 2026 during the B2B Forum.
- It says hydrogen for data centers is currently expected to remain at pilot scale near term, notes 677 MW of electrolyzer capacity in operation in Europe (July 2026) versus 37.6 GW announced by 2030, and estimates renewable hydrogen production costs of €4 to €14/kg and €7.1/kg average EU cost in 2025 under RFNBO rules.
- The guide recommends planning hydrogen infrastructure and data center growth together in digital energy hubs, with data centers, hydrogen production, renewables, and batteries operating as a microgrid; it also highlights stronger infrastructure in Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium and mentions possible near-term supply via trucked hydrogen or on-site production.
