IPS advances Wakayama submarine cable landing station plan

株式会社IPS has announced it will intensify business planning for a new international submarine cable landing station in Wakayama Prefecture and related branch-line work for the Candle project.
- The board resolved on 2026-07-02 to accelerate feasibility and commercialization studies for a new international submarine cable landing station in Wakayama and a branch line for Candle, its new international submarine cable project.
- The company said it is targeting a final investment decision in the second quarter of the fiscal year, while continuing talks with partners and customers; the total project investment is estimated at about JPY 23 billion.
- The landing station is planned as an open-access facility for carriers and hyperscalers, and IPS said the plan is aimed at reducing regional concentration of submarine cable landing points and improving disaster resilience and connectivity to Osaka-area data centers.
