Microsoft sets Azure VM lifecycle policy for transitions

Microsoft has announced a new Azure Virtual Machine lifecycle policy to guide customers through VM technology transitions.

• The policy defines four stages: Current, Extended, End of Life, and Retired, with guidance on support, availability, purchasing options, and pricing for Azure VMs.
• The first VM families covered are General Purpose, Memory Optimized, Compute Optimized, and Storage Optimized VMs; Microsoft also says Azure Advisor and Azure Service Health will help customers identify retirements and modernization actions.
