Microsoft uses Azure Arc for global datacenter security

Microsoft has described how its physical security organization is using Azure Arc and Azure Virtual Desktop to standardize and manage hybrid infrastructure supporting global datacenter operations.

• The team is extending Azure management and governance to servers outside Azure, using Azure Update Manager, Azure Policy, Guest Configuration, Azure Monitor, Azure Copilot Observability Agent, Log Analytics, Managed Identities, RBAC, and Azure Automation across a global datacenter footprint.
• Microsoft says the approach helps with patching, compliance monitoring, observability, remediation, and configuration management, while Azure Virtual Desktop improved application launch times by approximately 12x and release cycles by ~6x.
