NextEra Energy and Brookfield, with utility partners, have announced a new strategic partnership to develop a data center campus at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Paducah Site in Western Kentucky.
- The project is a $100 billion privately funded campus expected to be fully constructed in 2032 with up to 1.8 GW utility capacity, 1.2 GW compute capacity, and up to 4.6 GW dedicated generation resources.
- DOE selected Brookfield to lease and operate the campus and NextEra Energy to build and own dedicated generation, including up to 2 GW natural gas and 2.6 GW battery energy storage systems; the power service agreement will require additional Kentucky PSC oversight.
