NVIDIA has announced that it is participating in the U.S. National Science Foundation’s State and Regional Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Hubs program to expand AI computing access for research and education.
- The program will support state and multistate consortia of colleges and universities with shared AI infrastructure, software, educational resources and technical support; approaches may include on-premises infrastructure, cloud computing or both.
- NVIDIA cites its 2020 partnership with the University of Florida as a model and says it also contributed to the NSF-led NAIRR pilot; the article references UF’s growth to 300+ AI-focused faculty and more than $511 million in AI research awards since 2017.
