Rubio and Jaishankar attend Freedom 250 reception in Mumbai

The U.S. Department of State held a Freedom 250 reception in Mumbai featuring Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.

• Ambassador Sergio Gor said the event was held at the Jio Convention Center in Mumbai, India, on October 20, 2026, to celebrate 250 years of American independence.
• Rubio and Jaishankar discussed the U.S.-India relationship, including trade, technology, energy, defense, and Indo-Pacific cooperation; Rubio said bilateral trade had reached over $240 billion and the goal was to exceed $500 billion in three years.
