South Africa Cabinet approves policies, bills and appointments

South Africa’s Cabinet has announced a wide set of policy approvals, legislative publications, public comment processes, appointments and updates on migration, infrastructure, energy security and international relations.

• Cabinet approved publication of the draft Strategic Petroleum Stocks Policy and the NEMLA Bill, 2026 for public comment, while also approving the ISFF, the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Report and the submission of several ratification instruments to Parliament.
• The petroleum policy proposes 60 days of net imports in strategic reserves, rising to 90 days long term; the TRC update says 17 455 of 21 676 victims received R30 000 each, with nearly R500 million paid in total; the infrastructure summit referenced more than R1 trillion in public infrastructure over the medium term.
