Stony Brook hosts congressional staff on campus retreat

Stony Brook University hosted congressional staff from New York’s federal delegation for a two-day campus retreat on August 19-20, 2026, to showcase its research, innovation, and patient care capabilities.

• The visit included stops at the Quantum Data Center, Stony Brook Medicine’s Clinical Trials Unit, the Quantum Free Space Link, the Engineering Studio Lab, the Coastal and Hydraulic Engineering Research Laboratory, and demonstrations at CEWIT.
• Staff from offices including Sen. Chuck Schumer, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Rep. Nick LaLota, Rep. Andrew Garbarino, Rep. Laura Gillen, and Rep. Joseph Morelle met with University leaders, researchers, and clinicians to discuss federal priorities and partnerships.
