The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) is developing TAIDE, a Taiwan-centric generative AI chatbot and large language model (LLM) to provide accurate Taiwan-related information and support applications in agriculture, healthcare, and smart manufacturing.
- Project details: TAIDE was launched in April 2023 by NSTC and focuses on five functions (Chinese↔English translation, email writing, automatic summarization, article writing). It is trained on Taiwan-specific corpora and licensed databases (Central News Agency, Taiwan Panorama, Public Television Service, government and legislative databases, Taiwan Cultural Memory Bank) to ensure Taiwan-centric responses.
- Infrastructure and timeline: NCHC operates the computing backbone: Nano 5 was brought online in 2025; a new-generation Nano 4 GPU supercomputer (using TSMC 4 nm chips and NVIDIA GB200 and H200 GPU clusters) at a new computing center in Tainan completed September 2025 is expected to go online in the first half of 2026. The Super Computing Alliance Taiwan was established on May 7, 2025 to build a sovereign computing ecosystem via public–private cooperation.
