Tata Communications has announced a planned USD 400-450 million investment to build an AI super highway in India.
- The company said it will build about 10,000 km of new AI-ready long-haul fiber to connect India’s key AI and data-center corridors, with a three-phased expansion across the country.
- The first phase targets the Mumbai-Pune-Hyderabad-Chennai corridor; later phases will extend to Vizag, Bhubaneswar, Jamnagar, GIFT City and other locations, and the network will be integrated with Tata Communications’ global backbone and international cable landing stations.
- The release also references Tata Communications’ broader network footprint, including 500,000+ km of subsea optical fiber and 200,000+ km of terrestrial fiber, plus planned subsea cable work between Mumbai and Singapore and a consortium investment in a Chennai-Singapore cable expected to be ready for service in Q4 2029.
