Trench Group opens Charlotte bushing manufacturing plant

Trench Group announced the official opening of HSP US’s first U.S. manufacturing facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, to produce high-voltage transformer bushings for North American power-grid modernization.

• The $60 million plant spans 170,000 square feet, is designed for 25 kV to 765 kV dry-type bushings, and is expected to create up to 140 jobs in Charlotte through 2030.
• Trench Group says assembly is already underway, first deliveries are expected by the end of 2026, and the facility is designed to be the first domestic producer of dry-type bushings at this voltage level under Build America, Buy America (BABA) certification; the company also cites agreements with transformer OEMs and hyperscalers and an apprenticeship program with Central Piedmont Community College.
