UK condemns Russian attacks on Ukraine infrastructure

The UK, through Chargé d’Affaires Deputy Ambassador James Ford, condemned Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure and urged Russia to accept an immediate ceasefire and negotiate a lasting peace.
- The statement said Russian strikes have destroyed trains, energy facilities and data centers, and that attacks in the Chernihiv region killed 22 civilians, including five children, with at least 50 injured.
- It also said the UN verified 2,222 civilian deaths in Ukraine in the first eight months of 2026, and condemned attacks on civilian shipping in the Exclusive Economic Zones of Bulgaria and Romania; the UK said it continues to support Ukraine and hold Russia accountable.
